Dr. Mark Figueroa
Consultant
Mark Figueroa is the Vice President of Planning & Development at Moreno Valley College. He also serves as the College’s Accreditation Liaison Officer and is a faculty member and clinical coordinator in the Graduate School of Educational and Counseling, where he helped create a new graduate program in Student Affairs Administration and Educational Leadership. Mark has also served as an assistant coach for the Lewis & Clark football team for 9 years.
For the last 15 years, Mark has served as a coach for Achieving the Dream and has coached 22 colleges across 10 states, including 3 tribal colleges and ten Hispanic-Serving Institutions.
Dr. Figueroa has held administrative and faculty appointments at Scripps College, Saint Mary’s College of California, California State University – Los Angeles,
California Institute of Technology and Claremont Graduate University.
Mark holds undergraduate degrees in Philosophy and Chicano Studies from University of California, Riverside, a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. in Education from Claremont Graduate University.
His areas of expertise include institutional research, strategic planning, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), student access and success, quantitative and qualitative research methods, student affairs administration, program evaluation and assessment.
A proud child of the hip hop generation, he brings the framework of that culture—improvisation, creativity, and innovation—to his work in higher education, all aspects he feels are necessary to move higher education into its next phase.
