DEI Consultation
In her book, So You Want to Talk About Race, Ijeoma Oluo says “As long as you have a nation that is founded on the genocide of a nation of people and built with the chattel enslavement of a people… and think that is not about race…As long as this nation exists, it will be about race.” The significant role that race plays in the United States compels individuals in positions of influence to address inequities that often create disparities that can be predicted by race. Educators navigate racial and cultural dynamics often with good intention but limited racial and equity literacy. Race related challenges, incidents, and occasions require us to be both proactive and responsive to interrupt, interrogate and mitigate the matters at hand. RSSC supports leaders in addressing such matters in the institution, among the employees and in the community.
